We offer a robust autopsy service, including the ability to perform complete autopsies, brain only (in dementia cases), limited or restricted, and pediatric autopsies. We also accept organ- or disease-specific referrals for difficult diagnostic problems.
Our autopsy service will provide:
- Determination of a cause of death (non-medical legal cases)
- Verification of clinical suspicions, diagnoses, and the effectiveness of therapy
- Reports in response to family or physician concerns
- Second opinions on complex cases
The primary purpose of conducting an autopsy is to provide a thorough evaluation of the presence and extent of human disease in a patient who succumbs to a disease, and evaluation of the effectiveness of therapeutic procedures. Our team of experts treats each of our patients with respect and compassion. We are committed to performing a detailed examination and analyses in a timely manner.
All autopsy consultations should be arranged through the UChicago MedLabs client service team during business hours. Please include all relevant clinical medical records, including copies of pathology and clinical reports and images.
For additional information, or if you have specific questions, please contact Customer Service, and one of our client service representatives would be happy to help you.
