Vera Tesic, MD, serves as the assistant director for the Microbiology and Immunology Laboratories and as Assistant Professor in Pathology. She is also the section director of the laboratory service center and the rapid response testing laboratory, including blood gas testing. Tesic is interested in the emerging methodologies of positive blood culture testing and faster diagnosis of sepsis. She earned a master’s and medical degree from the University of Belgrade School of Medicine in Serbia, where she trained in clinical microbiology and parasitology. She pursued further education in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and completed a medical microbiology fellowship at the University of Utah ARUP Laboratories.
