Ricardo Lastra, MD, Assistant Professor in Anatomic Pathology, focuses on the value of immunohistochemical markers and molecular studies for diagnosis. He has served as a member of the Non-Gynecologic Cytology Committee of the American Society of Clinical Pathology since 2012, and was a member of the Newsletter and Publication Committee of the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology from 2013 to 2015. Lastra graduated from the Universidad Central de Venezuela J. M. Vargas Medical School in Caracas, Venezuela. He completed his residency as well as his surgical pathology and cytopathology fellowships at Penn Medicine. He also completed the advanced-specialty training program in gynecologic pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
