Peter Pytel, MD, serves as Associate Professor in Pathology and the director of neuropathology. Pytel’s neuropathology services include autopsy brain dissection, diagnostic services for skeletal muscle and peripheral nerve biopsies, diagnostic services for neurosurgical specimen, and intra-operative frozen sections for neurosurgery. His research interests include diseases of skeletal muscle and neurofibromatosis-associated lesions. He received his medical degree from Philipps University in Marburg, Germany, and completed his residency and a fellowship in neuropathology at the University of Chicago. He has published nearly 60 peer-reviewed articles and has authored or co-authored eight book chapters.
