Carrie Fitzpatrick, PhD, is the director of the Constitutional Cytogenetics Laboratory and Assistant Professor in Pathology. Her laboratory specializes in both constitutional and acquired chromosomal disorders using both classic cytogenetic and molecular methods. Her research interests include development and application of molecular-based technologies and whole genome approaches to study chromosomal abnormalities in prenatal diagnosis, pregnancy loss, neurodevelopmental disorders, and solid tumors. Fitzpatrick is the laboratory training director for the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics training program in clinical cytogenetics. She earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and her doctoral degree from the University of Illinois. She spent a year as a postdoc at the University of California, San Diego before starting fellowship training in clinical cytogenetics at the University of Chicago.
